Hi, I’m Teresa! Now that I’ve reached the fourth and final year of my Communication Design degree at FBAUP (Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto), I can say that I’m very happy and proud of the choice I made and I’m ready to take the next step.

I’m about to start my first internship as part of my final year, and I’m looking forward to experiencing a professional design environment within this area.

Over the last three years, university has given me the chance to experience design in very different ways: from exploring the city with a more attentive eye and imagining new formats for ideas, to solving problems and learning, specifically, how to work within deadlines. Moving between different projects and approaches has helped me understand what I enjoy doing. And, just as importantly, what I still want to explore.

As I approach the end of my degree, I feel increasingly confident in the choice I made and motivated to keep dedicating myself to new projects in visual identity, editorial design, photography, web and video. I especially enjoy being able to move between these different areas rather than focusing on just one.

I usually start with the idea before thinking about what the final outcome should look like. Research, references and exploration are an important part of my process, and I like allowing a project to change direction as it develops.

Rather than treating print, photography, digital or motion as separate areas, I enjoy finding ways for them to work together.

I’m still developing my practice, so my way of working is constantly evolving. I see each project as an opportunity to try something different, improve what I already know and learn something new.

Outside of design, I really enjoy singing! I started taking singing lessons about three years ago and, along the way, picked up enough piano to combine the two. Besides music, I especially enjoy going for walks in parks and along the beach, spending time in the sun, and doing pilates. I enjoy having a mix of creative and active things in my routine, as well as simply spending time outside whenever I can.
